About SIA
Established in 1959, the Severn Improvement Association is an all-volunteer, civic group committed to enhancing the quality of life for the residents of the Queenstown community in Severn, Maryland. From advocating for the community with local government to hosting the annual Queenstown Day event, the SIA is the platform for neighbors to work together for the betterment of all.
What We Do
- Host public meetings where residents can share their concerns and participate in decision-making processes on community issues such as zoning, traffic calming strategies, and development projects
- Represent the community with local associations
- Liaison with BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport
- Organize community enhancement event, like clean-up days
- Work with local law enforcement to implement safety enhancement strategies
- Organizing fundraising events to raise money for community projects, such as scholarships for local students.
- Produce the annual Queenstown Community Day
- Preserve Community History
- Seeks grants to enhancement the community’s identity and cohesion
- Attend local school board meetings and provide updates
- Organize the community’s participation in the local election process, such as volunteering at polling centers
